Police withdraw Tompolo security aides
According to Vanguard, the former General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger-Delta (MEND) had been using the security aides as approved to him by late president Umaru Yar’adua.

But immediately after Justice Ibrahim Buba issued the first bench warrant against the ex-militant leader, last month, the police had swung into action to deprive him of his security aides.
Security chiefs in the region are also said to be looking for new means of tracking down the ex-militant Tompolo following his reluctance to come out of hiding after the court had ordered that he must be produced on February 19.
An anonymous Ijaw leader told Vanguard that: “Our counsel to Tompolo is to stem the feared bombardment of our communities and harassment of innocent citizens by security operatives under the guise of searching for him and perpetrators of January pipeline bombing in the state.”

The former militant leader was quoted to have allegedly asked his boys to blow up more oil pipelines in the Niger-Delta if the military do not withdraw their men on his trail.
Few days after, the ex-militant, through his media aide, denied ever inciting his boys to blow up any pipeline, insisting that it was a figment of some detractors’ imaginations and in a bid to malign his character.
