Chris Christie's Bridgegate scandal has cost taxpayers $10 million
Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.)'s administration has cost taxpayers more than $10 million in Bridgegate-related fees, The Star-Ledger reports.
On Friday, the state attorney general's office released invoices from a forensics firm amounting to $2.3 million. That's a bill New Jersey taxpayers are footing, along with $8 million invoiced by a legal firm.
Bridgegate refers to the scandal surrounding the 2013 George Washington Bridge lane closures in Fort Lee by the Port Authority, thought to be orchestrated as retribution for the town mayor's lack of endorsement for Christie's re-election bid. Members of Christie's staff have been linked to the scandal, but not Christie himself.
Christie ended his presidential campaign in February after seeing dismal results in Iowa and New Hampshire.
