French President does not view support for RA Prime Minister as interference in Armenia`s internal affairs
ArmInfo. French President Emmanuel Macron does not consider his support for Armenia and RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to be interference in Armenia's internal affairs.
In response to a question from a French journalist at a briefing in Yerevan, who cited the French president's previous comments about Russian interference in the Armenian elections, Macron noted a distinction must be made between interference intended to manipulate democratic life and an open political stance. "I'm expressing my support for a partner I've trusted for eight years, just as I did when I supported Maia Sandu, who opposed non-European elections. I fully accept this decision. However, this is not the same as information manipulation, the spread of false information through the media in an attempt to destabilize the rule of law. That's the difference," Macron said.
The French president stated that he was openly expressing his stance. Moreover, the leaders of many countries had previously traveled to Moldova to support Sandu. "We cannot speak of interference here. On the contrary, there is interference through foreign agents commissioned by Moscow, who are trying to falsify democracy," Macron said.
