"Prosperous Armenia" leader: "Peace requires guarantees, not just words"
ArmInfo. Any peace must be guaranteed, especially for a small state like Armenia. Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the Prosperous Armenia party (PAP), told reporters outside the Anti-Corruption Court in Armenia on March 22, when responding to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement that war would inevitably follow if the opposition wins the elections.
In this regard, Tsarukyan emphasized that peace or war cannot be just words, recalling that today the Azerbaijanis have occupied Armenian territory and occupied strategically important heights, from where they are dictating their terms. "They say we must make further concessions, forbid us from having an army, insist that Sevan 'belongs to them,' talk about 'returning' 300,000 Azerbaijanis to Armenian territory, and at the same time, they become stronger. Peace cannot be achieved this way; it's nothing more than dictating their own terms. Peace must be guaranteed; after all, we are a small state," the PAP leader emphasized.
According to Tsarukyan, in order to achieve this, Armenia needs influential and strong allies with whom the country could sign a document guaranteeing that "not even a fly can fly over" its territory.
