Raoul Pal: ‘XRP price can rise 30,000% just like in 2017’

What if we are on the eve of a new cryptorally like in 2017? According to Macro investor Raoul Pal, the signals are unmistakable. And anyone who had XRP at the time knows what that can mean.

Raoul Pal sees dollar pattern from 2016 returning

Raoul Pal, former hedge fund manager and founder of Real Vision, sees striking similarities between the markets of 2017 and those of today. In a recent video he points to the movement of the dollar after Trumps election victories: a sharp, short revival immediately after the win – followed by a rapid weakening.

“The dollar popped up at the end of 2016, and did that again at the end of 2024,” said Pal. According to him, such a movement ensures shortage in the financial markets, with noticeable consequences after about three months. And indeed: a broad correction followed at the beginning of 2025, just like early 2017.

It is striking that the dollar is relatively weak at the time of writing. But Pal is not referring to the level itself, but on the pattern: a temporary peak after the election, followed by a decrease. And that is always the starting signal for volatility and opportunities on the cryptomarket.

XRP then almost 30,000 percent

Investors who got hold of XRP in 2017 remember what happened then. The currency rose nearly 30,000 percent in less than a year. From a few cents to almost 4 dollars.

On X, ‘Digital Asset Investor’ PAL’s analysis links that historic moment. “The circumstances look cicite to then,” he writes. A weaker dollar, political pressure on the currency and a huge hunger for efficiency among investors.

Will such an increase ever return?

XRP now trades around $ 2.30. That is a lot higher than last year, but if the coin again repeats only a fraction of the previous Bullrun, it can already do a lot. An increase of 1,000 percent would put XRP to more than 25 dollars.

In theory, a repeat of that famous 30,000 percent would bring the XRP rate towards $ 692. That sounds extreme, but also in 2017 almost no one expected XRP to rise from 0.006 to 3.84 dollars – and yet it happened.
