Kallas promised Pashinyan EU support
ArmInfo.Issues on the agenda of Armenia-EU relations, such as strengthening democratic institutions, the rule of law and opportunities for enhancing cooperation in governance reforms were discussed during a meeting in Yerevan between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.
As reported by the press service of the Armenian Prime Minister, Pashinyan thanked the EU for its continued support to Armenia and emphasized the government's commitment to strengthening democracy and peace.
The EU High Representative reiterated that Armenia and the European Union are currently closer than ever before. According to her, the EU is ready to further enhance the partnership in all areas. Kallas highly appreciated the Armenian government's commitment to democratic reforms, considering them vital not only within the country, but also as a basis for external partnership. She stressed that these values must be protected, especially in the face of hybrid threats, disinformation and attempts to interfere in the country's internal affairs, emphasizing that the EU is ready to support Armenia by maintaining the country's resilience.
During the meeting, they also exchanged views on the visa liberalization process, mutually emphasizing that significant progress has recently been made in this direction. The interlocutors also discussed the regional situation and the peace process. The EU High Representative noted that Brussels is pleased to note the positive progress made during the Armenia-Azerbaijan bilateral talks, which can serve as a basis for establishing stability and peace in the region.
