Ethereum course shoots back and forth – is there a breakthrough to $ 3,000?

Ethereum (ETH) received two big ticks in June, but shows striking recovery. The crypto coin fell harder both times than Bitcoin (BTC), but always managed to recover quickly. Analysts are now wondering whether Ethereum is ready for an increase towards 3,000 dollars in the third quarter.

Fluctuations after geopolitical unrest

In mid -June, Ethereum first lost 10.77 percent and dropped to $ 2,393, the moment Bitcoin fell 4.44 percent from the resistance level of $ 105,000. Subsequently, Ethereum started a powerful recovery and rose 20.3 percent from the bottom, with which the Bitcoin surpassed that rose by 10.03 percent in the same period.

Not much later the pattern repeated itself. The tension between Israel and Iran caused broader uncertainty in the markets. Bitcoin fell briefly by 7 percent to $ 102,832, while Ethereum had an even sharper relapse with 14.9 percent and fell to $ 2,441. Also this time the recovery started remarkably quickly and Ethereum is already trading around $ 2,530, with which it knows how to make up for almost more than half of the loss.

Spot buyers ensure a stronger basis

According to analysts, the sharp fall was mainly caused by many lifting tree positions in the Futures market closed at the same time. With such positions, traders use borrowed capital to speculate with a larger amount than they put in themselves.

This gave spot buyers the opportunity to step in and that makes Ethereum the basis stronger because the course is now worn more by real buyers instead of speculators.

After the recent liquidations, the open positions in Ethereum Futures have now risen by 5 percent to 36 billion dollars. The funding rates remain positive, which indicates a predominantly optimistic attitude among traders.

Ethereum ready for next step?

After a sharp fall to 0.78 last week, the Estimated Leverage Ratio (ELR) now shows an increase again. At a higher ELR, more is used with borrowed capital, which increases the chance of strong price movements.

The current image is similar to earlier phases in which Ethereum formed a stronger basis after a correction and climbed up again. As a result, $ 3,000 could be reached faster than expected.
