Withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers from Nagorno-Karabakh confirms stronger influence of Turkish factor in region - MP
ArmInfo. The departure of Russian peacekeeping troops from Artsakh confirms the significant strengthening of the Turkish factor in the region, opposition MP
Tigran Abrahamyan wrote his Facebook account.
"No matter how much this issue is considered through the prism of the
position of the RA government on recognizing Artsakh as part of
Azerbaijan and removing the Artsakh issue from the agenda, it is
obvious that the withdrawal of the peacekeeping contingent also
contradicts the interests of the Russian Federation in terms of its
regional priorities," the MP said.
He added that Russia's policy in the South Caucasus led to the fact
that other geopolitical centers created a situation where Russian
influence began to weaken, and due to this, directly and indirectly,
the Turkish presence grew. "What is happening in this situation? Yes,
the same thing that happened to us in different periods: we, the
Armenians, were killed, forcibly resettled, lost our homeland, but
even in this state there is still no complete and deep understanding
of what is happening with happened to us. Since yesterday, in order
to save the situation, various Russian politicians have declared that
the peacekeeping mission has solved its problems and is therefore
leaving. This is a dishonest approach, since the tripartite statement
of November 9, 2020, which is constantly being manipulated,
determined something completely different, and in. first of all, the
existence of Armenian Artsakh in the presence of Russian
peacekeepers. As for why the real problems raised in cooperation with
the government of the Republic of Armenia were not resolved, the
figures and structures of the Russian Federation that deal with
relations with the South Caucasus, and especially, bear their share
of responsibility with Armenia," the MP said.
