Mumbai beef ban may dim Bakrid festivities
Eid-ul-Adha or Bakrid, the Muslim festival which involves animal sacrifice, is less than two weeks away but the community is not exuding much excitement. Reason? This is first Bakrid (September 25-28) after the state extended ban on cow slaughter to bulls and bullocks through Maharashtra Animal Preservation (Amendment) Bill, 1995 in March this year.
