Strictly Come Dancing line-up 2015: Olympic boxer Anthony Ogogo confirmed for new series
Another celebrity has been revealed for the return of Strictly Come Dancing – and he could be a good bet for winning the new series.
Anthony Ogogo, the middleweight boxer who earned a bronze medal in the London 2012 Olympics, will be swapping the boxing ring for the ballroom, hanging up his gloves in exchange for sequinned lycra.
Ogogo says he’ll be doing the show for his mum.
“I've faced a lot of tough opposition in the past, but I've never faced anyone as tough as the Strictly judges before,” he said. “My mum is a massive fan of the show so I will be trying my hardest to make her proud.”
Traditionally, sports stars have fared very well in the competition in the past – a combination of their agility and control of their body, and a competitive edge. However, the last boxer to compete was Joe Calzaghe only made it through five episodes. Could Ogogo go all the way?
He’ll be up against previously announced contestants including Ainsley Harriott, Peter Andre, Kellie Bright, Georgia May Foote, and Carol Kirkwood.
