Thousands of bullets recovered from parked vehicle in Karachi
KARACHI: Security personnel claimed to have recovered thousands of bullets from vehicle parked in Nazimabad No. 1 area of Karachi on Friday.
Area residents informed police about the presence of the suspicious vehicle — which had remained parked in Nazimabad No. 1 since the past a few days.
Initial reports suggest that the car was transferring ammunition to an unknown location, but was parked due to some mechanical problems in the car.
According to Central Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Muqaddas Haider, residents saw boxes inside the vehicle and police summoned the bomb disposal squad to scan the car for explosives. More than 9,000 bullets were recovered from the car.
Security sources said that the recovered ammunition appeared to be bullets of G3 rifles.
Security sources also reported that the number plate of the car is fake and further investigation into the matter, including whereabouts of the owner, is under way.
