Bridge to Russky Island in Vladivostok closed
The Government of the Primorsky Territory has decided to close the bridge to the Russky Island in Vladivostok for traffic. According to the radio station “Moscow speaking,” the cables near the bridge are iced up, so driving on it can be dangerous.
“Falling on the roadway, ice blocks knock out even pieces of asphalt,” the mayor’s office explained. For people intending to leave the island, officials promised to launch a ferry. At the same time, the bridge is going to be reopened on the evening of November 21.
Earlier, the media reported that the freezing rain in Vladivostok paralyzed the city. In some areas, electricity went out because fallen trees cut wires. In addition, fallen icy branches damaged cars and blocked roads.
In addition, because of the storm, ferries were canceled, and because of the icing of the tracks, the railway service was suspended. Some residents of the city and its environs also complained about the disconnected heating, water supply and problems with the Internet.
