More than 42.4 million rubles. will be sent to the Irkutsk Region for measures to protect the residents of the city of Usolye-Sibirskoye from possible exposure to harmful substances. The order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
“Federal funding will allow purchasing more than 11 thousand personal protective equipment,” the document says.
Usolye-Sibirskoye became an ecological disaster zone after Usoliekhimprom closed there. A significant part of the production chemicals was left in the workshop buildings. Due to the danger of poisonous leaks, an emergency regime was introduced in the city. In 2019, the head of Rosprirodnadzor, Svetlana Radionova, called the enterprise the second Chernobyl and the territory of an ecological disaster, indicating that the industrial site is contaminated with mercury, containers with chemically hazardous substances are stored in the buildings, but with which ones, no one knows.
The government has approved an action plan to address environmental problems in Usolye-Sibirskoye. In August, Mr. Mishustin signed a decree, which sent 434.8 million rubles. to eliminate the consequences of environmental pollution on the territory of Usolye-Sibirskoye in 2020.
