Former lawyer of Efremov responded to the initiation of cases against false witnesses

Former lawyer of the actor Mikhail Efremov Elman Pashayev reacted in an interview with the TV channel “360” to initiate cases against false witnesses in the case of a fatal road accident.

The lawyer said that he warned the witnesses invited to the court about responsibility in case of giving false testimony. “I will not do anything. I honestly told them when we called them: guys, God forbid, if you weren’t there, you don’t have to say anything, ”he said, explaining that eyewitnesses“ even showed details of where what was. ”

Pashayev stressed that the defense invited two witnesses to the court, not three. He also added that he does not maintain contact with the participants in the process. “They came, gave evidence, that’s all, after that I never spoke to them. Never, ”he concluded.

According to the lawyer, the defendants in the new case can provide the investigation with their mobile phones, by which it will be possible to determine their location at the time of the fatal accident with the participation of Efremov.

Earlier, the official representative of the department, Irina Volk, said that the Ministry of Internal Affairs had opened criminal cases against false witnesses who testified at the trial about a fatal accident involving actor Mikhail Efremov. Three people were under investigation, who told the court that at the time of the accident, the artist allegedly was not driving his car. They were summoned to the court by the defendant’s lawyer Elman Pashayev. Before interrogation, the court warned these people about criminal liability for perjury. Nevertheless, two witnesses told the court that on June 8, 2020, they witnessed an accident involving Efremov and saw another person driving his car, while he was standing nearby.

Efremov was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison for a fatal road accident that occurred on June 8. He was driving an SUV while intoxicated and drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided with a car, the driver of which later died.
