Prince wasn't just a major pop icon—he was also a staunch supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement. Last May, after weeks of protests in Baltimore that followed the death of Freddie Gray in police custody, he released a tribute song, "Baltimore," which honored Gray and those demonstrating against police brutality. Starbucks reported in-line earnings Thursday for its fiscal second quarter, but sales came in a little light and the stock is sliding.

The company reported earnings of $0.39 per share, exactly in line with analyst expectations. Revenue came in at $5.00 billion against expectations of $5.03 billion.

Global comparable store sales, however, grew 6% year over year versus expectations of 6.7% growth. 4% of the growth came from increased purchase size and 2% from increased visitors. Читать дальше...

Starbucks Corp. shares slid 4.7% in after-hours trade Thursday, after the company posted weaker-than-expected sales for its second fiscal quarter. Starbucks said it had net income of $575.1 million, or 39 cents a share, compared with $494.9 million, or 33 cents a share, in the year-earlier period. Revenue rose to $4.99 billion from $4.56 billion. The FactSet consensus was for EPS of 39 cents and revenue of $5.03 billion. Same-store sales rose 6%, below the FactSet consensus of 6.5%.
