You used to be able to buy Photoshop, and all of Adobe's other apps, in a bundle called the Creative Suite. However, in 2013, Adobe went from selling pay-once software to a cloud subscription service.

Take your photos, import them into Lightroom, organize them as you see fit and discard the photos you don't like, and get into the nitty gritty details in Photoshop. Then, you can re-import those photos back into Lightroom to share online, or use for projects, like printing a physical book.
