Bochy doesn’t lose faith in Giants’ bullpen
A rough game by the bullpen can make fans forget a nice stretch by the relievers, but manager Bruce Bochy doesn’t forget.
Not just one guy, Bochy said a day after the bullpen blew a four-run lead in the eighth inning of an 8-7 loss to the Orioles.
(The relievers) took it hard, too.
Just like the fans.
Bochy isn’t about to replace closer Santiago Casilla, who surrendered a three-run homer in the ninth, saying, If a guy goes 0-for-4, I don’t sit him.
The bullpen overall had been in a groove, posting a 0.99 ERA and yielding no homers in seven games entering the homestand.
Buster Posey was out of the lineup for a second straight game with tightness in his lower back, which has bothered him since the team’s flight home from Miami on Wednesday.
Bochy said Posey felt improvement but that it’s wiser to rest him another day in hopes that it doesn’t linger.
Rehab updates:
Outfielder Mac Williamson (left shoulder strain) was supposed to play seven innings Monday for Triple-A Sacramento but didn’t appear because of a sore arm, and Josh Osich pitched an inning, allowing a run.
Gearrin is closer to returning to the Giants than Osich.
In either case, the Giants have a tough decision in deciding who’d come off the roster.
Life gets easier Sept. 1, when roster limits expand to 40.

The Giants are dedicating a new international baseball academy in the Dominican Republic on Aug. 23.
