Governor declares state of emergency in Lake County
Gov. Jerry Brown declared a state of emergency for Lake County on Monday as the devastating Clayton Fire raged across thousands of acres and left at least 175 burned homes and businesses in its wake. The declaration will expedite funding for fire crews and aid workers on the ground. More than 1,600 firefighters are currently battling the blaze, which started Saturday south of the town of Lower Lake and burned through the center of the 1,300-person community a day later.
