The Nigerian contingents posted a dismal outing at the just concluded world indoor championships in Portland, USA.
Patience Okon George was denied the opportunity to compete in the women’s 400m event owing to delayed visa and was eventually not listed for the event.
Another athlete missing in the pack was Orugbe who missed out in his event because he arrived a day before his event was scheduled to hold.
There was no single medal recorded for team Nigeria as the closest they came was in the women’s 4×400 event coming fourth after Jamaica was disqualified from the event.

In the 4×400 mens event, Nigeria came fifth behind leaders USA and Bahamas who claimed Gold and Silver medals respectively.
Dorin Amaka came ninth in her long jump event after failing to scale bar in three attempts.
The failure was foreseen before the event when the Technical Director, Yusuf Ali said that the Nigerian participants should stay back home instead wasting their time at the world indoor event.
The last time Nigerian won a medal at a world indoor event was Deji Fasuba, who dashed in a time of 6:51 in the 60m event at Valencia, Spain eight years ago.
