As is the case every year, country music fans tuned into the Country Music Association Awards to get – among other things – a quick and dirty synopsis of the year’s most buzzy talk points, courtesy of longtime hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley. This year, the main theme came in the form of buzz topic Star Wars, which prompted an opening segment starring Underwood in Carrie Fisher’s most famous persona, Paisley in the equally venerable role of “Guitar Solo,” and a host of other Nashville stars taking on the Force in various configurations (forgive us, but we were all bummed out when “Garth Vader” ended up to be simply Luke Bryan with excuses—“Garth wanted to be Chewbacca”). The otherworldly theme was continued when Paisley and Underwood found themselves approached by a Stormtrooper that turned out to be – surprise! – William Shatner in disguise.
