To perform at the absolute top of your game, training isn't enough.

Athletes also need to eat in order to get the nutrients they need to be the strongest or fastest they can possibly be.

There's no "one best diet" for athletes either — many eat in a variety of different ways.

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Sometime very soon, possibly even later Saturday, the United States will lay claim to its 1,000th gold medal all-time in the Summer Olympics.

Jesse Hanes, 36, faces one count of willful and deliberate first-degree murder for allegedly shooting a police officer on Friday during a traffic stop near a convenience store in the village of Hatch, New Mexico, Kelly Jameson, a spokeswoman for the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Department, said in a statement. Additional charges are pending against Hanes, who is from Columbus, Ohio and had two passengers in his car at the time of the traffic stop, she said.

Sculling is a rowing technique where the athlete propels the boat forward using two oars, on either side of the boat — as opposed to sweeping, where each rower has one oar on either side of the boat.
