According to preliminary data from the Kazakhstan National Data Center, the earthquake occurred at 10:58 p.m. Astana time on September 1 (5:58 p.m. GMT). Its magnitude was 4.1, with an energy class of 9.6.
According to the map, the epicenter was located about 405 kilometers northeast of Almaty.

There is no information on whether the tremors were felt in Kazakhstan.
