How much did Mikhail Shaidorov earn for his Olympic gold
Recall that after the short program the Kazakhstani skater was in fifth place (92.94 points), but in the free skate he scored 198.64 points, and with a total of 291.58 climbed to first place. His program included five quadruple jumps.
Under current legislation, a Winter Olympic champion is entitled to a bonus of 250,000 US dollars — that is 123.9 million tenge.
Silver medallists receive 150,000 dollars (74.3 million tenge), and bronze medallists 75,000 dollars (37.1 million tenge).
Well-known Kazakhstani artist Dimash Kudaibergen congratulated figure skater Mikhail Shaidorov on his Olympic gold medal. He affectionately called him “Mishabay” and “golden boy”.
Dimash posted a video on his Instagram account.
“Congratulations on your Olympic gold! Dear compatriots, what a celebration this is, what a toi (feast)!” he said.
The artist highlighted Shaidorov’s performances at the Games and also recalled Denis Ten.
“You fulfilled your duty at a high level to your elder brother (Denis Ten) and to the people,” the singer emphasized in his congratulations.

Dimash also added that he was pleased that Mikhail chose a piece of music performed by him.
“You made me very happy, thank you so much! In this regard, I want to give you an iron horse. The car is on me,” he promised.

This victory is Kazakhstan’s second gold medal in the history of the Winter Olympic Games, and the first in figure skating. Recall that the country’s first Winter Olympic gold was won in 1994 by cross-country skier Vladimir Smirnov.
Previously, Kazakhstan’s best result in Olympic figure skating was the bronze medal won in 2014 by Denis Ten.
