Earthquake reported in Zhetysu Region
Tengrinews.kz – An earthquake has occurred in Kazakhstan’s Zhetysu Region.
According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), a magnitude 4.7 earthquake struck at 13:39 Astana time, 68 kilometers south of the city of Sarkand. Based on the map, the epicenter was located 298 kilometers northeast of Almaty.
Preliminary data from the Kazakhstan Data Center indicates the earthquake occurred 60 kilometers east of the city of Tekeli, with the tremors measured at magnitude 5.0. The center said the shaking was felt by some residents of Almaty.
