The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the low pressure area (LPA) east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar has developed into tropical depression “Carina.” PAGASA Forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said “Carina” was estimated at 195 kilometers east of Borongan City moving northwest at 11 kph with maximum sustained winds of 45kph near the center as of yesterday. “Carina” is expected to bring moderate to heavy rains in the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas and the Caraga region which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. Fisherfolk are warned against moderate to rough seas over the eastern seaboards off Luzon and the Visayas. Although no tropical cyclone warning signal was raised, the public and the disaster risk reduction management council concerned were asked to make appropriate actions.
