Gerona, Tarlac — The long running struggle of a transport group against colorum vehicles shifted to higher gear with calls for the cancellation of the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) memorandum that increased the penalty to P200,000, for being inconsistent with an existing national law. (TAMOGEPA) in a position paper titled “Pananaw at Kahilingan” said DOTC Memorandum issued on June 19, 2014 “ay walang batayan at pinag-uugatan ito ng kalituhan sa batas trapiko (is baseless and leads to confusion).” The DOTC memo JAO 2014-001 which is a joint administrative memorandum of the Land Transportation Office and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTO-LTFRB) JAO 2014-001 increases the penalties of traffic violations.
