Priority is given to children residing within the specific school’s catchment area.

More than 380,000 first-graders are expected in the new academic year. To date, approximately 320,000 children have already been enrolled, accounting for about 84 percent of the projected total.
Roughly 296,000 children will attend public schools, while about 23,000 will be enrolled in private institutions.
Over 71 percent of incoming first-graders have opted for Kazakh-language instruction, while more than 26 percent have chosen Russian-medium classes.
The highest numbers of first-graders are expected in the Turkestan region (over 50,000), Almaty region (over 35,000), Astana (approx. 33,000), Almaty (over 31,000), and Shymkent (over 29,000).
