NSC thwarts illegal export of goods and fuel worth one billion tenge

Tengrinews.kz — The Border Service of the National Security Committee (NSC) prevented 551 instances of illegal movement of goods across Kazakhstan's border during the first ten days of August. The total value of the products exceeded 1 billion tenge.

Over 400 fuel smuggling attempts

The majority of identified cases involved fuel and lubricants. Border guards thwarted 411 attempts to illegally export these materials.

Another 140 violations concerned the illegal movement of consumer goods.

The perpetrators were held accountable in accordance with the legislation of Kazakhstan.

The NSC reported that efforts to identify and prevent the illegal movement of goods and cargo across the state border are ongoing.

Notably, in early July, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov ordered increased oversight of illegal fuel exports. According to government data, 61 attempts to export over three tons of fuel in auxiliary tanks and canisters were intercepted at checkpoints in just two days; since the beginning of the year, 593 attempts to illegally export petroleum products have been recorded.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs later reported that 59 police posts are operating at the border. Since the beginning of the year, police have identified 255 vehicles with illegally installed auxiliary fuel tanks. Administrative action was taken against 195 foreign nationals and 60 Kazakhstanis.

According to the NSC, during the first three weeks of July, at the Kazakhstan border, more than 1,300 attempts to illegally export fuel and lubricants were thwarted.
