Mudflow threat declared in three regions of Kazakhstan
Tengrinews.kz — Residents of three regions of Kazakhstan have been warned about the threat of mudflows.
According to Kazselezashchita, from July 3 to 5, a combination of high air temperatures and heavy rains is expected in the mountainous and foothill areas of Almaty, Zhambyl and Zhetysu regions. Such weather conditions may lead to intense slope runoff and rising water levels in rivers.
Specialists warn that the risk of mudflows and landslides remains in some areas.
“We ask residents and visitors of these regions to take precautions,” the statement said.
Earlier, on July 1, heavy rains caused flooding in settlements in the Karasai and Enbekshikazakh districts of Almaty region. Resort areas were also flooded.
