Top Arsenal players out of contract in 2027 – who could they keep?
Arsenal have already started tying down their key players to new long-term contracts.
They have started with talisman Bukayo Saka, who penned a new five-year contract, keeping him at the Emirates Stadium until the summer of 2031.
The England international’s previous deal was due to expire in 2027, but Arsenal weren’t willing to wait any longer before sorting out his future.
Fans who regularly tune in to watch the Gunners through soccer streams can now expect to see more of Saka for the foreseeable future.
The Gunners now have to repeat that trick with six other players who are out of contract in 2027.
Not all of them may be considered a part of Mikel Arteta’s long-term plans, so the club must decide whether to offer new deals or cash in while they can.
If they fail to sort out the future of any of these players before January, they’ll be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside the Premier League.
Without further ado, here are six Arsenal stars who are out of contract in 2027.
Gabriel Martinelli
Gabriel Martinelli is going through a season that tells two very different stories.
While he has only managed one goal in 21 Premier League games, the Brazilian winger has been far more effective in the Champions League, bagging six goals in seven games.
Martinelli’s spot in the team is also far from guaranteed, with the winger in competition for a starting role with Leandro Trossard.
Eberechi Eze’s arrival has also given Arteta more options on the left flank, although the England international prefers to operate in a more central role.
Despite his obvious struggles, Martinelli has still been a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal since joining from Brazil for just £6 million in 2019.
At 24, there’s no reason for Arsenal to cash in on the Brazilian, although they’ll need to bring in an upgrade to bolster Arteta’s options in the summer.
A new contract will help Arsenal protect Martinelli’s future, and Arteta could even convert him to a striker, having previously shown promise in that role.
Gabriel Jesus
Gabriel Jesus finally returned from a long-term injury in December, but came back to face serious competition at the top end of the pitch.
While he was out, Arsenal brought in Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP for a total package worth £64m to lead the line, effectively bumping the Brazilian down the pecking order.
However, even without a guaranteed starting role, Jesus has refused to throw in the towel, notching five goals in 18 games across all competitions since his return.
His highlight performance so far came against Inter Milan, bagging a spectacular brace against the Serie A leaders in his only Champions League start so far.
Jesus has basically issued a contract-renewal plea, making it clear he wants to remain at Arsenal and help the club win major trophies.
The only problem with that is Gyokeres has yet to prove he can fire the Gunners to glory, so the club may opt to bring in another striker in the summer, and Jesus may be the one to make way.
Leandro Trossard
When Trossard signed a new contract with Arsenal in the summer of 2025, it appeared to secure his future at the club.
In reality, the deal only increased his wages but did not extend his contract beyond 2027.
The club rejected approaches from interested teams at the time, meaning they still valued Trossard’s contribution to their relentless pursuit of the Premier League title.
Since then, Trossard has scored five goals in 26 Premier League appearances this season, starting 18 matches and continuing to prove useful in the final third.
However, the decision not to lengthen his contract may hint at Arsenal’s longer-term plans.
Since arriving from Brighton & Hove Albion, Trossard has often looked most effective when coming off the bench rather than starting regularly.
The 31-year-old is still a reliable option in attack. However, both the player and the club may need to consider moving in different directions in the summer.
Christian Norgaard
Christian Norgaard is only a quarter of the way through the two-year contract he signed after joining Arsenal from Brentford last summer.
He hasn’t played a lot of football for the Gunners, though, making only a modest six appearances in the Premier League, and each of them came from the bench.
However, the 32-year-old still seems to be enjoying his time at Arsenal so far.
He went as far as describing it as a “fantastic experience”, although he admitted he would have preferred more minutes on the pitch.
Rather than focus on limited game time, Norgaard has tried to support the squad in every way possible behind the scenes.
That attitude reflects the role Arsenal likely envisioned when they signed him – a reliable and experienced squad player.
If the arrangement continues to suit both sides, Norgaard could comfortably see out the second year of his deal, though talk of a contract extension may be premature.
Fabio Vieira
Fabio Vieira is spending the season on loan at Hamburger SV, a move the German club celebrated as a major signing following their return to the Bundesliga.
The deal includes a €20m option to buy, a fee that would make the Portuguese midfielder the most expensive player in Hamburg’s history.
However, recent reports suggest the club may try to negotiate a lower price before making the move permanent. Vieira recently admitted that his future is still up in the air.
He explained that staying in Hamburg is a real possibility if the club activates the clause, but ultimately the decision is not his to make.
For now, Vieira is focused on helping Hamburg finish the season on a positive note, with the club sitting 10th in the Bundesliga table after accumulating 29 points.
Vieira has admitted that he’s happy and settled at Hamburg, and a permanent move this summer seems the most likely option, considering his contract with Arsenal runs out in 2027.
Reiss Nelson
Reiss Nelson’s loan spell at Brentford has not gone according to plan. The Hale End academy graduate joined the Bees, hoping to revive his career after a series of injuries.
However, he has yet to kick a ball for Keith Andrews’ side so far, accumulating 50 minutes of first-team football across six Premier League appearances.
Brentford have an option to sign Nelson on a permanent deal.
However, with the team competing to qualify for a place in Europe without relying on him, they’re highly unlikely to activate the clause.
The 26-year-old was once considered a promising talent, but Arsenal will be desperate to cut him loose when he inevitably returns to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
