“Up to +13°C“: Warm spell to reach Kazakhstan as snowstorms continue

Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan will see unstable weather on January 31 and February 1–2, with snow, blizzards and icy conditions in several regions, while the south is expected to warm up to +13°C, according to a new forecast from Kazhydromet.
According to forecasters, for the next three days most of the country will remain under the influence of atmospheric frontal systems, which will bring rapidly changing conditions.

“Snow with blizzards is expected. In the south and southeast of the country – precipitation in the form of rain and snow, with heavy precipitation at times. Only in the central and eastern parts of the country, under the influence of an anticyclone spur, weather without precipitation is expected. Across Kazakhstan, fog and stronger winds are forecast; in the west, south and southeast – icy phenomena,” the synopticians reported.

What about temperatures?
Kazhydromet predicts a sharp drop in temperatures in the north and a gradual warm-up in the south:

Northern regions: nighttime temperatures will fall to -12 to -23°C, daytime temperatures to -8 to -18°C.
Central regions: temperatures will rise at night to -5 to -17°C, and during the day to 0 to -10°C.
Southern regions: a gradual rise is expected, with nighttime temperatures ranging from +6°C to -7°C, and daytime temperatures from +3°C to +13°C.
Southeast: temperatures will rise to 0 to -10°C at night (in mountainous areas -12 to -17°C), and +3 to +10°C during the day (in mountainous areas -3°C to +2°C).

Meteorologists added that no significant changes in the temperature background are expected across the rest of the country.
Earlier, forecasters also released a February 2026 outlook for Kazakhstan, noting the month is expected to keep a wintery character, but become noticeably warmer toward the end.
