Gundogan makes bold Man City claim amid Arsenal title fears

İlkay Gündoğan believes Manchester City can still win the Premier League and beat Arsenal to the title this season.

The experienced midfielder feels Pep Guardiola’s side have what it takes to overhaul Arsenal despite trailing them in the table.

Arsenal are currently four points clear at the top of the Premier League and look well placed to finally end their long wait for the trophy.

Gündoğan, who now plays for Galatasaray, was speaking after featuring in the Champions League for the Turkish side.

During the interview, he was asked whether City could once again push Arsenal out of the title race.

The former City captain did not hesitate with his response and made his belief very clear.

‘I think so, Yes’

Gündogan confident City can build momentum

Gündoğan explained why he feels City remain a serious threat in the title race. He pointed to their ability to find rhythm at the right time and turn that into a long run of wins.

‘I think they have the momentum right now, and the past has always shown that once they get that momentum, it’s very, very difficult to get something out of the games against them.

‘They can go for a long winning streak right now. It looks like they have to do that because both teams play at a very high level, but that’s why the Premier League is one of the most exciting leagues.

‘You have all these teams, and it feels like at the moment everyone can get something against everyone. It’s a special league, amazing to watch.’

His comments highlight the belief that City thrive when the pressure is highest during the final months.

Arsenal under pressure after winless run

While City look to build momentum, Arsenal are trying to steady themselves after a difficult spell. Arteta’s side are currently on a three-game winless run in the Premier League.

That run has allowed City to close the gap and keep the title race very much alive.

Despite that setback, Arsenal still control their own fate with a clear lead at the summit. The Gunners will be hoping to respond with a strong performance in their next league outing.

They travel to Elland Road to face Leeds United, aiming to return to winning ways.
