Insider: Arsenal summer signing could miss large chunk of season as ACL injury fears emerge

There are fears Arsenal forward Noni Madueke has ruptured his Anterior Cruciate Ligament, according to Con Harrison.

The scout and Gunners insider, who has been featured on the BBC and The Overlap and is followed by the likes of Ben Jacobs, Jacob Steinberg and Darren Lewis on X (formerly Twitter) claimed so this morning.

The Arsenal summer signing was withdrawn at half-time against Manchester City yesterday following a discomfort in his knee.

Madueke is set to undergo scans today, and he could miss a large portion of the season if it is confirmed that he has damaged his ACL.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will hope that is not the case given the fine start the England international has had since moving to the North London club from Chelsea.

Madueke has started five of the six games he has featured in across all competitions, with his pace and technicality causing the opposition all sorts of problems.

The Gunners have enough options in attack but losing the versatile 23-year-old to a long-term injury is the last thing Arteta wants right now.

The likes of Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze and Max Dowman are all available attacking options, which is good news for Arsenal.

They are without Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus at the moment due to injuries and cannot afford to lose another key attacker very early in the campaign.

Nothing has been confirmed right now and Madueke could only be missing for a few games if he has not sustained a serious injury.

Arsenal are back in action on Wednesday when they visit Port Vale for their Carabao Cup third round tie, with a trip to Newcastle United when Premier League action resumes on Sunday to follow.

Madueke will likely miss both games but Arsenal fans will be praying the scan results come out positive as a key injury could be a big blow.
