Arsenal kicked off pre-season preparations for the 2025-26 campaign with a 1-0 victory over AC Milan in Singapore this afternoon, with a goal from Bukayo Saka getting the job done.
Both teams played a penalty shoot-out after the game as that was the agreement regardless of the score at the end of 90 minutes, and Milan emerged victorious after winning 6-5.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta used the match to field many of his players, with 15-year-old duo Max Dowman and Marli Salmon also making their unofficial debuts.
The North London club scored in the 53rd minute, with Saka picking things off from where he left last season following a beautiful cross from Jakub Kiwior.
The England international attacker was named man of the match after the game, and he will be looking forward to the start of the new Premier League campaign.
Arsenal are back in action on Sunday when they take on Newcastle United, and another victory will come as a much-needed boost as the 2025-26 season draws nearer.
The Gunners face Tottenham Hotspur and Villarreal afterwards before returning to the Emirates Stadium to face Athletic Bilbao in the Emirates Cup.
They start the new Premier League campaign with a trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United on August 17, and they could do with a winning start to the season.
David Raya, Ben White, William Saliba, Riccardo Calafiori, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Christian Norgaard, Declan Rice, Ethan Nwaneri, Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz started the game, with Kepa Arrizabalaga, Leandro Trossard, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Martin Odegaard, Martin Zubimendi and Kiwior coming on at half-time.
Salmon, Dowman, Josh Nichols and Mikel Merino came on in the 65th to taste action, and more faces will be seeing action against Newcastle.
Arrizabalaga made three saves in the penalty shootout to prove his quality in his first-ever Arsenal game, but it was not enough to get them to win the shootout.
