Arsenal have been preparing for their first game of pre-season against AC Milan in Singapore later today, and manager Mikel Arteta is expected to field many of his players against the Serie A club as unlimited substitutions are allowed.
The Gunners boss took a 30-man squad with him to Asia, and 15-year-old duo Max Dowman and Marli Salmon are part of the team.
Dowman has been told that he will be a part of the Arsenal first-team next season after impressing several times in training with the big boys, and he has continually proven himself.
The attacking teenage sensation bagged a sublime goal for England under-17s against Czech Republic at the under-17 European Championship in May and he has shown what he is capable of doing as the Gunners prepare to take on Milan.
Dowman can be seen taking on Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard two minutes and 29 seconds in a clip uploaded by Arsenal on YouTube, and he easily breezed past them.
He is expected to feature against Milan but could also be making his Premier League debut for the North Londoners next season.
However, Dowman will have to wait for a while before featuring in the Champions League due to rules regarding players being of a certain age – a player must be 16 and above to feature in the elite European competition.
Ethan Nwaneri currently holds the record for youngest player to feature for Arsenal in the Premier League after coming off the bench for his debut against Brentford in September 2022 aged 15 years and 181 days, but Dowman is getting closer to breaking that record.
Chelsea were reportedly keen to include Dowman in the deal for Noni Madueke during preliminary talks, but the Gunners promptly rejected the idea given how highly they rate him, and it will be intriguing to see how he fares going forward.
