Tokayev holds a series of bilateral meetings

Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a number of bilateral meetings, citing the Akorda press service.
On the sidelines of the meeting of the Foreign Investors’ Council under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Head of State held several meetings with event participants.
During a conversation with Rafael Santana, President and CEO of Wabtec, it was noted that the company has been a reliable partner of Kazakhstan’s railway sector for many years, investing more than $230 million in its development.
The American corporation Wabtec is recognized as one of the global leaders in transportation technologies.

“Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that Kazakhstan expects to further its strategic cooperation in the production of a new type of locomotive, expansion of service centers, creation of a competence center, and increasing localization of production,” the statement said.

The Head of State also discussed investment cooperation with Marco Mariotti, President of Philip Morris International for the CIS and Central Asia.
The company contributes to sustainable development and innovation, and is among the largest taxpayers in the country.
From 1994 to 2023, Philip Morris paid over 1.2 trillion tenge in taxes to Kazakhstan's state budget.
Additionally, welcoming David Livingstone, Chief Client Officer of Citibank, Tokayev noted that the bank has been a trusted partner of Kazakhstan for over 30 years.
The President highlighted the importance of Citibank’s continued involvement in strategic infrastructure projects, adding that the bank’s plans to support small and medium-sized enterprises will contribute to the diversification of Kazakhstan’s real economy.
In his meeting with Gary Nagle, CEO of the Swiss company Glencore, priority areas for cooperation were discussed, including the expansion of local content and further implementation of joint projects in the mining, metallurgy, and energy sectors.
Glencore is a shareholder of Kazzinc, a mining company whose enterprises are located in the East Kazakhstan, Akmola, and Ulytau regions.
Earlier, Tokayev met with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
