New Mysterious PlayStation State of Play Reportedly Happening Very Soon
The video game industry has been anything but quiet so far in 2026. From big releases like Resident Evil Requiem to the upcoming Lord of Hatred Diablo 4 expansion to Capcom's new IP, Pragmata, there is a lot of quality content either out or coming soon. There have also been a lot of leaks for potential releases and announcements this year and even into 2027, and PlayStation fans may want to pay attention to this new batch.
According to notorious leaker NateTheHate, the next PlayStation State of Play event may be happening on Thursday, April 16. NateTheHate himself said he could not 100 percent lock down the date, though. "I'll share the unconfirmed date I've heard for the next potential State of Play: April 16. Emphasis on unconfirmed," wrote NateTheHate.
Additionally, NateTheHate made a post replying to fan questions and expectations for the event. Allegedly, the event seems to be focused on third-party games. NateTheHate also stated that he is "not 100 percent certain" about that information either.
It's perfectly normal (and even expected) for rumors and leaks to happen about most video game showcases and events, but most of them have little credibility and turn out to be false.
However, it is a little different when the information is coming from someone as consistently reliable as NateTheHate. At the end of March, NateTheHate potentially leaked virtually all of Nintendo's 2026 plans and a few things into 2027. While those, along with these new leaks, remain unconfirmed for now, NateTheHate's track record is pretty solid.
If the event is real and the date is April 16, it's anyone's guess as to what could show up there. A lot of fans are still waiting on information about Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Marvel's Wolverine, and several more upcoming projects that will appear on Sony's console.
As of this writing, PlayStation and Sony have not confirmed a State of Play event for April, and have not made any official acknowledgments about these rumors.
