Democratic wins across Wisconsin shake up the GOP
Democrats achieved significant electoral victories Tuesday in Wisconsin and Georgia, described by Politico as "one of their best election nights since President Donald Trump returned to the White House."
In Wisconsin, Democratic-backed candidate Chris Taylor won a state Supreme Court race with nearly a 20-point margin in a state Trump carried in 2024. Democrat Alicia Halvensleben also won a mayoral race in Republican-leaning Waukesha, Wisconsin.
While in Georgia, though Democrat Shawn Harris lost a special election runoff, he cut Trump's margins by 25 points.
A GOP strategist anonymously criticized Republicans involved in the Wisconsin contest, saying those responsible "should be doxxed, tarred and feathered." However, former GOP strategist Brandon Scholz called the results "a wow moment" and warned Republicans face serious midterm challenges, stating they need to ask themselves "What are we going to do in November?"
