Planning a Cruise? CDC Gives These Ships High Marks for Cleanliness
Let’s face it, cruise ships get a bad rap. Mass illness from food poisoning, flooding toilets, abrupt cancellations, and the occasional guest going overboard is enough to make you think twice before booking a vacation on the seas.
The CDC recently inspected the following cruise ships and gave them a perfect 100 score, according to the CDC Vessel Sanitation Program inspections. For the most part, these bow-to-stern inspections happen twice a year, according to USA Today.
Here's What The CDC Inspects
- Medical center
- Drinking water
- Galleys and dining rooms
- Swimming pools and hot tubs
- Housekeeping
- Pest and insect management
- Child activity centers
- Heating, ventilation, and AC
“If a ship sails outside of the United States for an extended period, it may not be inspected twice a year, but it will be inspected again when it returns to the United States,” the CDC said on its website.
