Cinema nights in Greek, French and Russian
In collaboration with STYX Film Encounters and in parallel with the temporary exhibition Christoforos Savva: Simple — Complicated — Invisible: An Unknown Archive, the AG Leventis Gallery presents a series of cinematic evenings with film screenings from the 1940s and 1950s.
This April, May and June, selected feature films will be presented under the title Between Worlds. The first screening has already taken place, yet fear not, four more are cominig soon.
Next up, on April 15, is the 1959 film Fate of a Man by Sergei Bondarchuk. The film will be presented in Russian in the Impressionist Hall, Paris Collection on the Gallery’s first floor, at 7.30pm. The following screening will take film lovers to the roof garden of the Leventis Tower, 15 floors above Nicosia.
May 13’s screening will showcase Michael Cacoyannis’ emblematic film Stella, presented in Greek at 8pm. The 1958 French film Mon Oncle by Jacques Tati is up next on June 17 before the series wraps up with Jacques Becker’s Monparnasse 19 on June 24, again in French.
