Steamboat Resident Dies After "Serious" Ski Accident
A Steamboat Springs, Colorado, resident died in a ski accident on Saturday, March 21.
25-year-old Jack McGrath, who was living in Steamboat, was identified as the deceased by the Routt County Coroner's office. The accident reportedly took place on Buddy's Run, a popular blue run off of the Storm Peak Express lift. Further details of the accident have not been released.
“We sadly did have a serious accident that took place on the mountain today off Buddy’s Run involving a member of our community. Our Ski Patrol responded immediately and provided life-saving care, but despite these efforts, the individual passed away,” Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp. Director of Communications, Maren Franciosi wrote in a statement to the Steamboat Pilot.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to their family, friends and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” Franciosi added.

Steamboat Resort is set to close for the season on April 12, 2025. The mountain reportedly has a 24 inch base and 17% of terrain still open. Twelve of Steamboat's 33 lifts and 30 of 183 groomed runs are currently still open at the resort.
