Dylan Graves’ Frigid Surf Mission Through Norway’s Wild Fjords (Video)

Here’s a fun fact: Norway has the second longest coastline in the world.

Why? It’s riddled with fjords, or inlets, along the Scandinavian shoreline, making it one big squiggly line. And within those fjords, shouldered by the Norwegian Sea, there are nearly endless possibilities for surf spots. You just need to know where to look.

So, recently, weird wave aficionado Dylan Graves teamed up with Swedish pro surfer Tim Latte for a windy surf road trip along the Norwegian coast. And they absolutely scored a few waves that very few people surf – check it out below.

Graves explains:

“In the last episode, we pushed pretty far north in Norway and surfed freezing waves in the Barents Sea. This time we headed… less north. Still deep in the north, just not as far north.. Chasing waves through a Norwegian winter.

“After days in the Arctic, we jumped in the car and drove 15 hours south through Norway chasing a wave that our friend and Swedish pro Tim Latte has been obsessed with for years. The destination: Lofoten.

“And while this was a mission to get to, all of Tim’s calls so far had been worth every bit of effort we put in. Plus it was a chance to see a different part of Norway, hunt down a few cold-water rarities, stop by the northernmost surf shop in the world… and somehow squeeze sessions into the shortest days of the year.

“In winter up here, the sun barely clocks in. Every surf is a race against light, weather, and time.

“This episode continues the Norway trip from ‘Pretty Far North; Norway’ as we keep exploring Arctic surf and chasing rare waves across one of the wildest coastlines in the world.”

Goes to show, if you’re committed, know a little something about geography, and got a tank full of gas, there’s still waves out there, just waiting to be explored.
