Beloved Brewery Opening for 1 Final Day Before Permanent Closure After 7 Years

The brewery market has become especially volatile as a record number of Americans decide to skip out on alcohol.

The Brewers Association revealed the number of craft breweries operating in June 2025 (9,269) was down 1% from the number operating in June 2024 (9,352).

"This decline in the number of breweries is accompanied by a somewhat larger drop in volume produced as well," it said. The Brewers Association estimates craft volume down 5% year-over-year compared to 2024. Although the sample in the survey outperformed this estimate, the result represents an adjustment for response bias and triangulation with other supporting data."

Initially launched in 2019, Bear King Brewing quickly became a hotspot for locals in Marble Falls. "Legend has it that centuries ago, a mysterious creature stalked the outskirts of Marble Falls. Some say it was half-man, half-bear. Others claim it was just a bear or simply a man. Either way, the myth of the Bear King stuck," the brewery said, revealing the inception of its name.

Despite a loyal consumer back, the brewery was forced to close its Marble Falls location effective immediately, citing a "downturn in the economy, rising costs and ongoing financial challenges," the brewery said in a statement to the Daily Tribune.

"Closing Bear King is one of the hardest things we've ever had to do. This place was never just beer – it was a community that welcomed us from day one. We're incredibly grateful, and we hope everyone will come raise one last glass with us on Saturday," head brewer and owner JD Guidry said in a statement.

The Brewery Will Open for 1 Final Day

The brewery and restaurant will reopen for one final day on Saturday, March 7, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., giving the community one final opportunity to celebrate the staff and longtime customers with all food and proceeds being directly donated to the staff.

Those looking to attend the final event will see a discounted food menu while supplies last with free chips and queso – and free chicken strips for kids. In addition to food, everything-must-go discounts are also available on remaining items.
