Surveillance video of a nearly blind refugee from Myanmar being dropped off at a Buffalo doughnut shop by Border Patrol agents five nights before he was found dead shows him pacing by a locked door and walking through an empty parking lot. The video obtained by the Investigative Post shows Nurul Amin Shah Alam stepping gingerly in his county-issued jail booties and pulling up his hood against the cold. It was recorded on Feb. 19, the day the 56-year-old was released from the county jail where he had been held for a year. Buffalo Mayor Sean Ryan has said the restaurant was closed at that time. U.S. Customs and Border Protection said this week that agents chose “a warm, safe location” for the drop off.
