Costco’s New $3 Food Court Dessert Is Going Viral — Shoppers Say It’s a Must-Try

Costco's food court has always been known as a budget-friendly spot for cheap eats, from its famous $1.50 hotdog deal to the super-sized pizza slices and chicken bakes. A new addition to the menu, however, is being hailed as a bargain for such a delicious dessert.

The new Double Chocolate Mint Sundae began appearing in Costco food courts earlier this month, and members of the wholesaler quickly took to social media to share rave reviews. This dessert features mint soft-serve ice cream, chocolate cookie crumbles, and chocolate sauce.

The retailer's ice cream and sundae cups have always been a hit with shoppers, but the new mint chocolate version has been an instant hit. The Double Chocolate Mint Sundae is a traditional soft-serve mint ice cream, layered with cookie crumbles and topped with a chocolate sauce swirl.

Food bloggers on TikTok praised the sundae for having "good mint" rather than "bad mint" — the latter being the toothpaste-like bitter taste that often occurs when fast food restaurants try to roll out mint ice cream menu items.

Others compared the dessert to the viral Dubai chocolate sweet treats that every restaurant, retailer, and their mother has been creating in recent years, often with mixed results. The praise for the gooey chocolate cookie topping and chocolate sauce swirl, however, was rather unanimous.

The Double Chocolate Mint Sundae lands at the eatery in good time for St. Patrick's Day. "Costco trying to compete with the Shamrock Shake over here," one commenter said.

More negative responses, however, criticised Costco's rotation of temporary menu items. "Getting rid of the salted caramel brownie is criminal," one user wrote, to the tune of 200 likes.
