Donald Trump tells Benjamin Netanyahu US may back strikes if Iran deal fails
The United States and Israel leaders discussed possible support for strikes if nuclear negotiations with Iran fail, according to a report.
US media reports say Trump told Netanyahu Washington would support Israeli action against Iran’s ballistic missile program if negotiations with Tehran collapse.
According to CBS News, the information was shared by two sources familiar with the discussions who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The report states that, in recent months, US military and intelligence officials began reviewing options for supporting potential future Israeli operations against Iran.
Discussions reportedly focused less on Israel’s capability to act and more on how Washington could assist, including aerial refueling and regional airspace access.
The developments come as Washington continues nuclear negotiations with Tehran, while both Trump and Netanyahu insist Iran’s missile program must also be limited.
Meanwhile, Iranian officials say missile capabilities and zero uranium enrichment remain outside negotiation agendas as talks continue in Geneva, Switzerland, with facilitation from Oman.
The report highlights growing strategic tensions as diplomacy continues alongside preparations for possible military scenarios if negotiations ultimately fail.
