A man suspected of vandalism hate crimes targeting Jewish businesses in the San Fernando Valley has been arrested.
In August 2025, police began investigating vandalism targeting Jewish businesses along Ventura Boulevard and Winnetka Avenue, the Los Angeles Police Department said. Properties were vandalized with swastikas and other hate-related graffiti, according to police. The number of properties and which businesses were targeted were not immediately available.
IInvestigators identified San Fernando Valley resident Jose Antonio Montes Gutierrez as the suspect and seized evidence believed connected to the crimes during a search of his residence, authorities said
Montes Gutierrez was booked at Van Nuys Jail on suspicion of having committed.a hate crime and felony vandalism, with bail set at $250,000.
The investigation is ongoing, and no further details were immediately available.
