EU prepares retaliation after Trump threatens tariffs over Greenland
European Union leaders will convene in Brussels for an emergency summit on Thursday to decide how to respond to US President Donald Trump’s threat to impose new tariffs on eight European countries. The proposed duties target Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Germany, France, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
Trump claims the countries have violated US security interests by deploying troops to Greenland, which he has repeatedly stated he wants to acquire, either through payment or military force. The White House has not ruled out action.
