Woman shot while sitting in car in Oakland
OAKLAND — A 42-year-old woman was shot Sunday night while she was sitting in her parked car in West Oakland, authorities said.
The woman was in stable condition Monday at a hospital where she was being treated for a wound to her lower leg, authorities said.
The shooting happened about 8:39 p.m. Sunday in the 1700 block of Goss Street.
The woman, who lives nearby, told police she was sitting in her car when she heard gunfire and realized she had been wounded.
He was taken from the scene by ambulance to a hospital.
Police are trying to determine a motive for the shooting and whether the woman was the intended target or was hit by stray gunfire.
Several shell casings were recovered in the area, police said.
