Supercomputer moves Tottenham up predicted Premier League table despite Brentford draw
Opta’s Supercomputer has given a slightly more positive prediction on where Tottenham Hotspur will finish in the Premier League after their last two results at Selhurst Park and the Gtech Community Stadium.
Tottenham fans were extremely unhappy with the negative performance their side delivered at Brentford, with neither side managing to create many chances during the game.
However, the one positive Frank will take is the fact that Spurs have not conceded a single goal in two tough away trips to Palace and Brentford.
Four points from those trips is undoubtedly a decent return, given that Tottenham had won just one of their last eight Premier League outings before these two London derbies.
Opta’s Supercomputer predicts Tottenham to finish in the top half
Following Spurs’ 2-1 defeat to Liverpool, Opta predicted that the Lilywhites would finish in 13th place in the Premier League table.
However, a 1-0 win over the Eagles, followed by their 0-0 draw against the Bees, has seen Frank’s men move up the predicted table.
Opta now predicts that the North London side will finish in 10th place, accumulating 52.65 points this season. However, the data analysis platform still has Tottenham finishing behind the likes of Everton and Brentford.
What should be Spurs’ objective this season?
Thomas Frank has been hesitant to articulate clear objectives for the Lilywhites in the Premier League this season.
However, one would think that Spurs fans will simply not accept a 10th-place finish, no matter how often the Dane defends himself by pointing out that the club finished 17th last term.
Reports indicate that the Tottenham hierarchy is willing to give Frank time to turn things around, but there is no doubt that his role will get heavily scrutinised if the club do not move closer to the top six spots.
